Information Sharing
Citizens must be kept well informed about events affecting them through changes in law, policies and procedures, and an optimized website with new technology. Governments exist to serve the people. Information on how officials conduct the public business and spend taxpayers’ money must be readily available and easily understood.
While meeting notices and agendas must be made public, that does not mean they are easily accessible. The current City website and social media presence requires updates to make all information readily accessible.
I will ensure the following information is readily available on the City website:
- Budgets – current and past budgets with a simple graph showing increases or decreases over time to help citizens evaluate and understand trends in local spending.
- Building permits and zoning – building permit and zoning applications. In addition, constituents will be able to submit applications and track the process online.
- Audits – regular audit information including: report results, audit schedules and performance audits for government programs.
- Contracts – bids and contracts for purchases of more than $10,000, and the vendor’s campaign contributions posted with contract.
Additionally, we will invest in the technology required to Live stream all meetings.
