Teamwork

The new City Council and Mayor must work as a team with other government officials to effectively address problems like traffic and drainage that cross political boundaries.
December 4, 2019 by Jill McGuire

The new City Council and Mayor must work as a Team with other government officials to effectively address problems like traffic and drainage that cross political boundaries. The City of Mandeville incorporated areas are controlled by our laws and regulations. However, once outside of city limits, the St. Tammany Parish rules apply. While we can control our quality of life within Mandeville, the parish rules are not as stringent as ours.

In order to effectively work with other government officials, we must first be able to work with ourselves. The divisive arguments within our city government do not benefit anyone. The amount of time spent arguing, rather than working as a team, has led to a reactive city government.

A large percentage of the problems that face Mandeville, such as traffic and drainage, can only be resolved by working as a team with other government officials. As your Councilperson, I will identify external problem areas and achieve consensus within the city government on how to resolve them. Initial areas that I will focus on are:

  • Drainage
  • Traffic
  • Incorporating outlying land/properties under our rules and regulations
  • Identify parish zoning deficiencies that negatively impact Mandeville

I have the experience necessary to bring all parties to the table and find common ground.
